About Us
Our Story
The Guardian Angels Motherless Babies Home (GAMB) was established in 1998 as a sanctuary for abandoned, orphaned, and vulnerable children. What began as a modest initiative with just three children has grown into a home that has provided love, care, and support to over 500 children in its 25 years of service. Rooted in compassion and guided by faith, GAMB is a beacon of hope for children who have no other place to turn.
Founded under the leadership of Msgr. Prof. Obiora Ike, the Founder of the Catholic Institute for Development, Justice and Peace (CIDJAP), and supported by the Catholic Diocese of Enugu, the home has flourished through the unwavering dedication of the Daughters of Mary Mother of Mercy (DMMM) congregation. Its mission has been furthered by the steadfast support of international and local benefactors, including St. Wendelinus Parish, Germany, and Christians in Need, Austria.
Our Journey
The journey of GAMB has been one of resilience, faith, and profound impact. From its early days in Emene to its relocation to Nwannedinamba Estate in 2015, the home has continuously adapted to meet the needs of its children. The relocation, driven by environmental and infrastructural challenges, marked a turning point, offering a safer and more nurturing environment for the children. Today, the estate features state-of-the-art facilities, including a well-equipped playground, modern living quarters, and a serene chapel for spiritual enrichment.
Our Leadership
GAMB has been blessed with extraordinary leaders whose tireless efforts have shaped its legacy. From Sr. Lucy Ohademere, whose vision and determination led the home through critical developmental phases, to Sr. Martin Agnes Ibewuike, who brought innovative reforms and organisational excellence, GAMB’s leadership has exemplified selfless service and transformative care.
Our Impact
Over the years, GAMB has not only been a home for children but also a place of growth and transformation. Many children raised at GAMB have gone on to become thriving members of society, including professionals and seminarians. These success stories underscore the profound impact of the home’s mission and the importance of its work.
